Who are we?

IRMCo was set up in May 1994 by Anna Spiteri and Dirk De Ketelaere.  As Senior Partners of the company we bring over 15 years of professional experience in conducting studies related to the environment.

Our continuous, active involvement in European Union sponsored research and training projects has enabled us to explore and apply new, innovative approaches and techniques to deal with environmental challenges.

At the same time, we have been consistently directing our efforts to actively engage stakeholders and endusers in all stages of our research, ensuring that socio-economic conditions are duly considered.

Where are we ?

The Maltese Islands are situated in the centre of the Mediterranean, just 93 km due south from Sicily and 290 km from the nearest point on the North African mainland. The archipelago consists of the Islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino as well as a few other uninhabited islets.

What are we?

Our ability to transfer new technological approaches across a wide spectrum of fields enhances our image as a 'knowledge-driven' company.

The strict discipline and organization that is required for successful evaluation of projects submitted for sponsorship to the European Commission, has enabled us to develop further our skills in project design and management, especially in formulating Research and Development approaches as well as in planning, implementation and dissemination strategies.

Awarded projects are based on the use of technologies such as database management, geographic information systems, remote sensing, mapping techniques, mathematical modelling and decision support systems.

The company's premises are located in one of the three medieval cities known as the Cottonera, surrounding the enchanting Grand Harbour, Malta's natural harbour

Where are we going?

Our in-house discussions at present focus on what do we want to be involved in next? What should IRMCo's next phase of development include? How do we apply and transfer our management, scientific and technological expertise to projects in various other fields to inject new enthusiasm in our work? Which directions should we take??

Our vast map-making experience has already generated interest in the field of geo-archaeology; and recently we have been asked to join a consortium on conflict resolution, in which we have offered to guide the production of peace maps for diplomats.

So, yes, these are definitely exciting and fulfilling times for us here.

and where we have gone a long way too....

A cross-cutting activity which has featured in each of our projects is without doubt the gender awareness and the gender positive actions we employ.

We actively seek to work with women professionals, and we insist on 50 percent participation of equal gender representation in our training activities.

IRMCo is involved many times in events and activities that deal with 'Women in Science and Technology' and 'Women and Entrepreneurship' in the Mediterranean and beyond.
